Make some noise!
Is your brand part of the 2.3 billion active social media users?
Welcome to the year 2016, where Baby Boomers, Gen Xers and Millennials alike can be seen with their heads down typing feverishly on smart phones, tablets, computers—you name it. Although it may not appear so on the outside, they’re being social in ways never thought possible.
As of January 2016, 3.4 billion people are internet users and of those, 2.3 billion are active on social media, which is approximately 67 percent of all users. If that statistic alone doesn’t sell you on the importance of pursuing social media for your business, I don’t know what will.
Let’s step back. What is social media? By its very definition, social media is the act of being social (communicating and interacting with others by sharing and consuming information) on web-based tools. Among the most popular: Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest, LinkedIn and YouTube.
So, what’s in it for you? Social media is not only playing a major role in elections in the United States and around the world, but enabling businesses to amplify their messaging.
There is no better time than now to make some noise and join the conversation taking place around your brand every minute, of every day, of every month, of every year. The possibilities are endless: boost search engine optimization (SEO) to your website, build relationships with potential clients, generate media coverage, respond to customer issues immediately and get ahead of your competition through targeting and retargeting your messages.
So you have a website (hopefully it’s mobile-friendly, so those 3.4 billion users can access it on all their devices!), but aren’t active on social media. Make your brand shines (and exists!) in the online community by allowing your brand to be represented and found across all social channels.
Here are a few tips to get you started:
Determine where you need to be.
Successful businesses establish multiple social media profiles. From an SEO perspective, when potential customers search for your business on Google, you want them to see your website, as well as a full list of social media profiles.
Complete your profiles, completely.
Incomplete or inactive social media profiles give visitors little to no reason to follow your business. Fill out each profile to the best of your ability.
Connect with your followers.
Once you establish social media profiles, reach out and connect to your followers by answering questions or providing value where you can. Social media is all about being social … start engaging!
